wHEN SHOULD I GET LIPOSUCTION?
Many women and men are concerned by the fact that despite their healthy diet and regular sport activity, they cannot get rid of the abnormal excess of fat accumulated on special body regions. It is liposuction that may be the aid for them.
However, it is important to know that this method will not make an overweight person slim, will not lead to weight loss, that is, it is not an alternative of an obesity diet.
Liposuction is an excellent opportunity to refine and correct body contours by removing the locally accumulated, unwanted surplus of fat. The results are:
slimmer body lines,
nicer body contours,
a more harmonic outlook.
1-3 litres of fat may be removed during one liposuction, which does not make the patient significantly lighter, but his/her shape becomes more graceful, better shaped and aesthetic. Thus, results of liposuction are measurable not in kilos, but in centimetres and in contour lines.
Regions predominantly necessitating liposuction and formable by this plastic surgery procedure are: the belly above and under the navel; the buttock; the waist, the hips; the inner side of the thighs, the knees and the ankles. It is applied on males affected by the so called gynecomasty, if it was developed by fat accumulation. It may be performed on its own, but also
can be combined with facial plastic surgery,
during which the fat drained from the given are can be use for filling the deep wrinkles of the face.
HOW IS LIPOSUCTION DONE?
Prior to the procedure, general and local examinations have to be done to value the risks of the treatment. The procedure is always performed under general anaesthesia.
During this plastic surgery procedure the operation field is filled with a so-called Klein solution, loosening up the fat tissue, making liposuction easier. Then a liposuction tube is introduced under the skin through a tiny incision; to drain the fat.
The operation is slightly painful, depending on the extension of the area treated; alike, on the width of the fat tissue and the looseness of the connective tissue.
The procedure lasts for 1-2 hours, with a one night compulsory clinical stay-in.

HEALING AND RECOVERY AFTER LIPOSUCTION
Though swelling, haematoma, possibly inflammation or exudation of the treated area may appear after the treatment, these are treatable if needed. The patient should wear a compression dress for 3-4 weeks. The tubes applied for liposuction leave only millimetre-sized scars behind.
Work capacity returns in 7 days, the sutures are removed in 7 days.
The results of liposuction are instantly visible and permanent, because even the fat cells are removed from the affected area, preserving the proportion of the body achieved by the treatment – when putting on weight, the new kilos do not appear on the treated area.
Cellulite-like alterations also may show significant improvement after liposuction, disappearing completely from the treated area.
